Individual Therapy
People come to individual therapy for all kinds of reasons: to get help for mental health challenges, to work on specific goals, to process traumatic experiences, to get support in relation to big life transitions or stressors... Sometimes people come to therapy without really knowing the reason, and other times people come because somebody else wants them to, like a family member, a partner, or a boss. Individual therapy can help you process big and difficult emotions, build new ways of approaching relationships and coping with problems, or make changes that you think might help you lead a more satisfying life.
I have done training on and frequently use aspects of trauma-focused therapies, compassion-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness approaches. I have also done training on providing support to people who have encountered challenges in mindfulness practices or when using psychedelics.
I have experience and training to work with...
struggles arising from traumatic experiences
experiences that can be labeled as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder
difficulty accessing, understanding, naming, and managing emotions
feelings of numbness, disconnection, not being "myself"
violence and coercive control in relationships or groups
people who use drugs and alcohol
difficulties related to psychedelics and/or mindfulness
