Frequently Asked Questions
Can I ask you some questions before committing to an appointment?
Definitely! Finding a therapist you feel good about working with is a really important part of therapy. I offer a short phone chat (about 15 minutes) with potential new clients so that you can get a sense of who I am, and we can talk about what you're looking for out of therapy and whether we're a good fit before booking a first appointment.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual therapy: $150 (50 min sessions)
Couple therapy: $160 (50 min) or $215 (75 min)
Family therapy: $170 (50 min) or $230 (75 min)
Payments can be made in cash at the end of the session, or by e-transfer in the 24h following a session. I send invoices and receipts by email.
I also have a limited number of sliding scale spots (up to 50% from the base fee, according to means). I do not keep a wait list for sliding scale spots.
Do you take insurance?
I can issue insurance and tax receipts, but I don't accept direct payment from insurance companies at this time.
Depending on the type of coverage you have, your insurance company may reimburse you a portion or the total fee for services with licensed professionals. Please check with your insurance company to find our whether you have coverage and how to submit receipts for reimbursements.
I am a registered Social Worker and Couple and Family Therapist with the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et thérapeutes conjugaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ) and I have a psychotherapy permit issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ).
What is your cancellation policy?
If you have to cancel or reschedule and appointment, please let me know with 48h notice. Missed appointments and appointments that are not cancelled within this time frame may be charged an administrative fee.
Where is your office located?
5890 Av. de Monkland, Suite 205
Montréal, QC H4A 1G2
Public Transportation: from villa Maria Metro, take bus 103 or 162 and get off at Royale Avenue. The office is a half block from the bus stop.
Parking: Street parking (paid and unpaid) is available in the area.
Is your office accessible?
To access the waiting room, you can take the stairs or elevator to the second floor and turn left to find the Lighthouse Counselling Centre. Please note that while the office space is wheelchair accessible, the hallways are rather narrow and the bathrooms on the second floor are too small to accommodate a wheelchair.
There are two small single-person bathrooms on the second floor with gendered signage.
Do you offer therapy online?
I do most of my clinical work in person at the Lighthouse Counselling Centre. Sessions with existing clients may be moved online in case of emergency or exception, but I do not work online in a regular way.
Can I get on your waitlist?
I don't keep a waitlist for psychotherapy. It may take me a few weeks to respond to new service requests (sent via my contact form or email), but if I have space in my practice we will likely be able to book a first appointment in the following few weeks.
What is your schedule like?
I see clients in person from Monday to Thursday, primarily in the day time. I have limited availability after school or in the early evening on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Please note that I am not reachable from Thursday afternoon to Sunday.
Do you offer psychedelic-assisted therapy?
No. Psychedelic-assisted therapy (where the client takes psychedelics and a therapist stays with them for the entire duration of the drug experience) is still an experimental treatment undergoing evaluation for regulatory approvals and it is not legal outside research settings, Ketamine clinics, and rare exceptions for other substances.
That being said, I have a good deal of knowledge about psychedelics and about the research being done on them, and while I can't help you access psychedelics or underground providers, my clients are more than welcome to talk about this aspect of their experience in therapy if it is relevant and important to them, like any other topic.
Do I automatically become a participant in your research if I do therapy with you?
No, and this is strictly prohibited by the law.
My psychotherapy clients are not subjects of clinical research - as my client (individual, couple, and family therapy), the information you share with me is protected by strict confidentiality laws.
